Hayden M6 Primary Chain Tensioner
Has anyone had a bad experience with the M6 Chain Tensioner? Dealers seem to discourage using them, but I have been using them for several years with no problems. I Am presently expecting a new Road King in January, and was wondering
if these Dealers are discouraging the tensioner because it eliminates the constant adjustment.
Just Curious.

I have been using the Hayden tensioners for years on different models, never a problem at all. I am surprised that HD doesn't make something similar or just install the Hayden's product in their new bikes. Have any dealers told you why they discourage their use?
I've used the M6 tensioner on several of my personal Harleys.
At the shop, we have installed many of them with no problems whatsoever.
If there is any problem with the product, it's just that they ask a fair bit of money for not much in the way of parts.

These were probably some of the same dealers who discouraged the use of synthetic oil.
The several people who I know use them have nothing but praise for them.

The adjustments don't bother me, as a matter of fact I like opening the inspection cover and looking in to see the shape of the chain, the wear on the adjuster etc. That's one of the reasons I like to do my own service, it's to see future potential problems before they happen.
