Well, thinking about going a different direction with my RK.....
Thinking about all the wrinkle black engine covers, black forks black engine guards and bag guards, black headlight nacelle, black street slammer bars, and some other little pieces here and there. I put all the parts into a wish list on HD just to get an idea of price. It all came to just under 2 G's. I know I can recoop some of the money by selling my chrome forks and switch housings and having my engine guard and bag guards powder coated. I am thinking of removing the passing lamps and going to the HD touring custom front turn signals. Not sure if I am going to do it or not, but I am definitely thinking about it.
Oh man brett u really scared me, I thought this was going to be another one of those goodbye Harley hello Victory threads...LOL...sounds very cool, a blacked out King.
I have been thinking of going blacked out on my RK as well. Already have a little black on there. Want to get the black bag latches, bag guards, front forks, and handlebars. Thinking of leaving the nacelle chrome, not sure yet. I LIKE Black. I say go for it.
I plan to leave very small amounts of chrome on there just to break it up. I will probably keep the chrome visor style trim ring on the headlight and the chrome spear on top of the headlight nacelle. The turn signals will still be chrome, along with the foot controls. Oh yeah and the big radius exhaust that is coming this week is chrome as well....
I have a question though....I know if I have my engine guard powder coated, I can still ride the bike (obviously).....since I am switching to the big radius, if I take off the bags, I should be able to remove the bag guard and supports for powder coating and still ride the bike right?

Sounds cool...did you say you're gonna go krinkle? Think about maybe gloss black may look better if you're going to keep some chrome accents...just my opinion tho...+ not as much chrome to polish=more riding time...LOL

no, just wrinkle black on the engine covers. The front end, guards, bars and stuff would be gloss
my thoughts exactly. I have an 05 rk custom and started with teh horn cover, cam cover and primary. all wrinkle black of course. iwll get to the front end later. I like your thinking of doing it all at once. if i only had the cash!
that's the big hold up.....it may end up being a winter project. Luckily, I kept my factory upper and lower fork parts. The only parts I will have to actually buy will be the engine covers (just because I want them to match the parts that are already wrinkle black on the motor) the bars and the nacelle. If I can find a powder coater who can match the HD gloss black, it will save me a buncha cash.
