Default Too stiff rear shocks

Is there any way to make the stock rear shocks on a n '05 RK alittle more forgiveing? I'm 225 with 9#'s of air and this thing is so harsh riding, It feels almost like a ridged framed bike over bumps. I tried lowering and raising the air pressure, but it feels like the shocks don't move but alittle. I jump up and down on the seat an watch the shocks, they don't seem to move very much. I did a search about changing the oil in them, does this help?
My wife also says this thing rides too hard for her when she's on the back. Have the air pressure up to 20#'s with both of us. Anyone have any suggestions other than changing the rear shocks.

You can change the oil in the shocks to a lighter weight (10w). So a search and you will find a link to show how to do it. I changed to a heaver wt. to keep from bottoming out while loaded. I would have to have 35# of air before now I can get by on 12. I have the lowered shocks on the rear.

Did you buy it new or used? A previous owner may have wanted a stiffer ride and used a heavy oil. If so do like already said and change oil to a lighter wt. If you bought it new something is wrong. From what I understand from other threads they come with 5 wt. from the factory.
