Got one on the Road King and one on the Classic. Spent a couple of hours trying to get them to fitl. They are both poor fitting pieces of scrap chrome..
I never imagined that the HD headlight trim rings fit OVER the stock ring. What a mickey mouse way to design something. Do any of the aftermarket trim rings completely replace the original rings without trying to fit over them? Thanks for all the info related to this issue. I would have never expected this and when I mentioned it yesterday at my local HD shop, three employees weren't even aware that the trim rings fit over the original ring.
OK, I am experiencing the same space on my 08 RK. Question is, how does the original trim ring come off? I remove the bottom screw andit will spin in place, I can even disengage the spring clips, but something is still holding it on at the 12 and 2 o'clock postion. This spring clip assembly seems like it is causing the gap at the top,I want to try and correct it before I install the new trim ring. So, how do I get the original ring off??
Thanks
Loosen the origanal trim ring screw a small amount so the new ring will fit behind it. If i remember corectly it is just 1 phillips screw on the origanal ring, and dont loosen it to much. You will be suprised on the fit
Read the instructions says to do like Seavee says! Mine worked the same then I read instructions and presto no gaps!
I especially like the gum wrappers that come with the passing light rings. Oh and a word of cautionif you need to change a bulb on the turn signal rings. Be gentile or you will either wreck the O ring or crack the lense taking off the ring. As soon as you can get a screwdriver onto the lense screws take them out without taking the ring all the way off.
I agree it is a piece of crap. I found a similar ring in J&P, with no gap at all - it's a continuous ring with no gap in it and it replaces the factory ring. Fits and looks great with no gap!

What he said, mine fits fine.
Yep, same here. Mine fits perfectly doing the above. (what the instructions said to do) [8D]
