The other day my wife and I went over to Daytona Beach to snoop around and look at some properties for sale. While we were there, we stopped off at Bruce Rossmeyer's Daytona Beach HD as we had never been there before. (We moved to Wekiva Springs a few months ago from the wilds of northwest Montana.)
The dealership is an amazing place, with just about everything a biker could ask for. We are sorry too hear of the untimely death of Bruce Rossmeyer. He certainly was a man with vision.
While we were snooping around, I came across one of the employees installing a brake rotor lock on the lower leg of a new Road Glide. He was going down a line of new bikes on the floor installing rotor locks.
I had not seen this particular one before, and ended up buying one. It is a RoadLok made by Jay Brake. It works slicker than hell! Kinda pricey at $300.00, but it is a very well made piece, and is a good addition to my Ultra Classic. It has a perfect chrome finish, and is also available in black..your choice. Look them up on the web.
I took one along with me to install the following day.
To make a long story short, it didn't fit!. I called them up and talked to the guy that had sold it to me, and he checked it out, and discovered they had given me the wrong one. I had the model for the later models with Brembo calipers (mine is a 2007 with a Hayes Brake caliper). He shipped me a new one by UPS...it arrived today, and I had it installed within 5 minutes! Perfect fit....here's the catch....I still have the original one! He trusted me to send the first one back to them, after receiving the correct one, prepaid UPS! They included a new label to ship it with, so I will drop it off at UPS tomorrow morning.
The service I have received from Rossmeyer's HD on this transaction was superb. I heartily recommend "Ice" in the parts department for making a hassle work out so easily.
I bought the one from HD with the orange reminder cord. Excellent quality, and when it's locked up, that bike ain't moving. Someone would have to drag it or lift it up and take it. That's why I carry good insurance, but the lock might make them go to an easier bike to get. at 40 something dollars, it's a good buy.
Hcubed, glad to have helped you out. Yes, it's an awesome product! I know my 20k dollar Harley is worth the expense of the best lock available. Call us if you need anything else!
Get a cord to go around the bars so you don't forget it's locked. At least I need one of those, and it is ugly trying to ride off without taking the lock off. Don't ask how I know.
