I know it's been covered a while back when the Street Glides first came out but I am seriously considering buying a say 05 FLHPTI Police Electra Glide and converting to a Street Glide look alike. I know of the issues with no stereo controls in the bars and that is not the end of the world by far.
I'd imagine I can pickup say an 05 in the area of $15K give or take. Another $500 for a Biketronics Sony Kit and I am on my way; albeit slowly.
Any opinions, thoughts or suggestions from the knowledgeable here? With all the 06 issues I've read about from bad radios, to brake noise to the dreaded cat issues, I am just plain not overly confident in buying an 06 be it used or new no matter what my stealer says. They are in the market to sell bikes and I realize that. Seems the FLHTPI would be a good alternative...... I'll kick back and wait for some input!
Love my 06..only issues is the front rotors..the stink anyway..I will swap them out when I buy new wheels. Worse case you get some floating roters and your good to go. Those are cheap like $70 each.
If it's a conversion you want, good luck with the project. Then again, if ya want a new Street Glide, why hesitate? I'm guessing that's whatcha really want![sm=signs007.gif]
Indeed Bounty that's what I'd like and after sitting and doing some simple match, I don't see where I'll be saving all that much and still not have the "real deal". Unless something incredibly good shows up, I'll prolly go the street glide route and add a Chopped Tour Pak, I'll be good to go.

Hawg

How bout the Electra Street Glide. Sounds more catching. Fhawg you might not need to spend to much to get it to look like a SG.
Beside the parts that you take off you can resell on ebay. You'll get almost 75% of the cost of the part back. Harley parts are like gold on ebay. Trust me I know. Have fun..
