Just purchased an '09 RKC and am waiting on the service manual. Had a question about the auxilliary switch on the left side of the the steering head. Is anything connected to the switch or is it just the switch leads behind there? If there is something connected where is the other end of the connection? Thanks!
All touring models have an accessory switch for owners use. The switch is located on the right side of the fairing(FLHT) or left side triple clamp (FLHR)
There is an accessory connector located in front of the battery that can be activated with the ACC switch. See a Harley-Davidson dealer for possible uses.
My guess is you could use it for different types of heated gear, in the manual on page 77 it shows the connector by the battery.
You can just splice into it also, of course... Handy if you want to power lights/GPS or what not without having to run everything under the seat and back.
I plugged the cig lighter into it. Was a life saver on my trip. Didn't drill any holes though. Just tossed it in the saddle bag, works just fine like that.
