The wind protection is more noticable durring cold weather riding. The chopps are not a wind block, but there is a lot less of it, which makes a big difference, when riding in 50 degrees temps and below.

I've got the Hogg Chopps and they do eliminate almost all of the air flowing up from the bottom. The only air I feel now from the bottom on my torso is a slight breeze coming from the area directly infront of the tank. The air baffle does its job in this area pretty well, as it literally is just a comfortable breeze.

IMO, lowers (Hogg Chopps or otherwise) should probably be RG owners first attempt at mitigating the excess wind that some find objectionable from the stock configuration.

Okay... sounds like their is consensus of reduced buffeting, overall decent wind protection, but nobody has said how they compare to the HD's in terms of rain and keeping dryer in the event you're caught in a downpour...

Also, in comparison of size and shape, the look larger in pics than the HD's. May just be the way the pics are done, but also appear to have less coverage on the lower portion of the faring in comparison.... (which may make a difference in the question above and earlier statements about wind on your feet when on the floorboards...)

Just wondering.....

YES they are not as wide at the bottom, this accounts for better flow (IMO) by design of air to the engine. I have ridden these in some pretty severe rain on the interstate and got no more wet than I ever did on my Road King with HD vented lowers on it. Long as you keep your feet on the boards in the rain they offer more than adequate protection.

Wish there were more pics though....there are some but not all angles.
I really like the look and the idea. Especially compared to HD price and these look better too.

Tks BDM!
Great info, as I want to put lowers on my 09 SG, and had figured the HD's were my best option. I had seen these before, but really had investigated them before. My biggest complaint is they don't offer the glove boxes... I for one, would use them, which is the biggest drawback for me. Are the worth the extra $$$ to get from HD? Hmmm a question I'll have to debate...

You know it is funny that you say that about rain protection Mike. In all honesty I found that with the lowers on my EGC that they really didn't offer all that much rain protection. I got caught several times in the rain w/o my rain gear and my lower legs were still pretty wet. Now winter wind protection is a different story. You can tell a big difference with and w/o in the winter with lowers.
