Default performance max mufflers

I just purchased a set of Max 2s, (ebay)should be here in a couple days. I rode with a guy that had a set and the sound was ....good! This is my first Harley so "good" is a relative term to all you seasoned Harley guys.

I paid $115.00 plus shipping for a set of Max IIs. My bike is an 06 Road King, the guy I rode with has an 04 Road King. He said he put his on in about 45 minites. Should be the same with mine. My concern , of course, is doing damage to the bike that I have dreamed of most of my life, just to get a better sound.

I just don't have the $1000.00 + that the dealer needs to do it "right". So I don't know if I'll install them once they get here or not. I'm thinking I should just suck it up and deal with the stock exhaust until I can afford to do it "right". Or... go for it.

I'm not concerned about improving the bike's performance, it does everything I want it to do. Just simply want a better sound. If I can get that by installing these pipes without hurting my engine, life is good right? Has anyone actually heard of these pipes causing damage? Seems like there's better info on this site than at the dealer. Your thoughts?

Thanks for your time.
