I just got a 2010 Limited. This is my first Harley, so I have nothing to compare it with. It throws less heat on me than my Valkrie, but more than my Goldwing. I was expecting more heat than what I get. I do try to stay away from sitting at red lights. I live in Phoenix, so heat is an issue for me. I't doesn't take much for the back cyclinder to kick off when it is over 100 degress outside. I haven't figured out if it really helps or not.
The hot ones were the previous versions. The 09 & 2010 are a little cooler thanks to the exhaust and the cylinder de-activation.
Make sure you have it turned on to take advantage of hot stop lights.

Hate to say it but the 09's are hot. Thanks to the EPA for requiring them to run lean. It does help some that the pipes were re-routed for the 09's. Can't speak for the 10's tho.

I think the 20's may be even hotter with the catalyst installed---
Just bought a 2010 Ultra Classic and yes the right side does get quite hot, even for the passenger. My upper right leg gets pretty uncomfortable at stops. It is not a problem while in motion though.

Same thing happened with my '09 commuting on hot days through stop and go city traffic. A custom-mapped PCV and stage 1 air cleaner from Fuel Moto totally solved that problem. Now the motor never gets hot enough for the rear cylinder to shut down. www.fuelmotousa.com
