Question Dakota Digital advice needed!!!!!

Guys,
I'm sure this has been posted before, but I'm a lazy s.o.b. The first question I have are these guages worth the price and do I need to have these calibrated? Also what is the price to have these installed? Thanks for the replys!

Screamin Steve,
I have the Dakota Digital Gauges on my 08 Ultra. I certainly think they are worth the cost as you can clearly see the gauges in any light condition, and they have an automatic dimmer to lower the light intensity when the sun goes down. As far as calibration is concerning, only the odometer needs to be calibrated to show the true miles you have on your motorcycle. Only the factory can calibrate the odometer, I guess for legal reasons more than anything else, and it will cost you an additional $30.00 for the calibration. I did not know this when I purchased, and after converting all my gauges over to Dakota, I had to send the Speedometer back to the factor for calibration. My Ultra is a Pacific Blue Pearl / Black two tone, and the LED gauge lighing color matches the color of my bike, so from an asthetics standpoint, that was icing on the cake. The Spedo can be set for regular mode, or performance mode. The tac can be adjusted to show time, max rpm, and what gear you are in (1 thru 6).

Screaming Steve,
Installation is simple. Just remove the front part of your faring, and replace each gauge one at a time. Its a plug&play situation. It would help if you had a service manual for the model/year of your motorcycle for reference, but it is prettty straight forward. I too had mine installed at the dealer, and when I had to take off the front of the fairing and remove the spedo to send it back for calibration, I could have kicked myself for not doing it myself.

Just installed these a couple months ago on my RG. You CAN calibrate the odometer yourself now. You have to do it within the first 100 miles. It comes with instructions on how to do this.
