I believe that would be a "negatory" if you talking about swapping the module.

I bought the security module off ebay with 2 fobs. Someone had removed it from their 2008 sportster (same part number) after only a couple hundred miles. I called my dealer and they said they would charge me 1/2 hour to reprogram the Fobs. I asked how much to do the install and the fobs and they said 1/2 hour so I let them do the whole install. Works great.

The dealer only charged me $32 buck to install the module and flash the fobs. If you talk with them and let them know how easy this is they will drop their price. For me they dropped from $75 down to the $32. Makes you wonder how many other things that they over charge us for.

I bought my SSS from Zanotti's for far less that it would've cost from the factory (~$215 IIRC), and it had one fob in the kit. I also bought a second used fob on Ebay ($19 shipped) and the Radio Shack siren for $6. Since I didn't have the electronics manual at the time I let the dealer install the SSS and marry the fobs, but I installed the RS siren myself. They charged me their shop minimum (˝-hour), which at the time was $37.50. I thought that was reasonable. I think I was out maybe $260 or so whereas a SSS + HD siren from the factory is a $500+ option, or at least that's how my dealer prices them on new bikes. BTW the $6 RS siren is still working fine and is plenty loud.

Default Question about TSSM PIN

The self-install FAQ is pretty clear, but it leaves me with one question:

I know I have to take the bike to the dealer to marry the fob(s) with the TSSM, but what about programming the initial PIN code for manual disarming? Is this something that is a factory default (i.e., 31313), I can enter myself after (or during) the self install, or is it entered by the dealer when he marries the fob(s)?

Default Success!!

OK, did it...

Thanks to forum members, I got the TSSM (68200-07, for an '08 EG) and extra fob from Zanotti's at a discount, followed the FAQ instructions and installed it myself...

The hint about using a timer came in handly (instead of waiting and wondering when the 10-minute increments were up). Everything installed and booted up as advertised.

Once the install was completed and recognized by the bike, I went back in and programmed the initial PIN for manual disarming. Tomorrow I go to the dealer and have the fobs done...

One note is in order...UNTIL YOU GO TO THE DEALER AND HAVE THEM MARRY THE FOB(S) the alarm system will not arm...this is normal.

I would also advise you to immediately verify the manual PIN will disarm the system after they marry the fobs (just leave the fobs out of range and go through the manual disarm procedure on the wallet card) BEFORE you leave the dealer.

Thanks again for all help and great info.
