Well the old man and myself took the scooters up north to suttons bay michigan along M22. We rode 3 days and let me tell you there is some beautifull country there.
Michigan isnt the best place to live right now, i live 20 minutes east of Lansing, but norther michigan is where my dad is from and it is amazing to ride. Traverse city, cherlavoix, cheboygan, glen Harbor has a great place called boonedocks to eat at. just simply a great ride.
I know this thread is useless with out pics, and i got all the way up there and forgot my camera, i know i know i cant believe i forgot it, how dumb.
But for all you out there thinking about ever riding michigan, i recomend going through some northern towns of michigan. we didnt have time to get the UP but hopefully we can next year.
I live in st.johns ; but my mom lives up by burt lake ... my sister lives by mancelona .... my nephew lives by torch lake , another nephew has a place west of grayling , and my brother has a place east of cheboygan. " UP NORTH " is awesome !!!!!!!!
Yeah i have aunts and uncles in grayling, fairview, and mio. MIO is where my dad is from.
Man some great roads with some nice curves up there!
I got my 08 SG at the end of last july and i have been taking it a little easy because i came from a crotch rocket, so pushing that weight around is a little different to me, so this was my first good ride through hills and curves on the SG and she did awesome, stage 1 kit, man the rineharts hummed, was a great ride.
I took the long way to Sturgis this year. Up the Huron coast on Hwy 23. Beautiful ride. Across the Mackinac Bridge and west on Hwy 2. What great scenery.
yeah northern michigan is a good place to ride, i am really shocked more people dont ride up there. i understand its not the most appealing place to come to, but we do have some unique stuff to offer
I just got back from 10 days in Alden, man I love it there. Great weather, beautiful lakes, and lots of open roads. My only complaint is if you get off the main road the secondary roads are ruff as you know what. If it wasnt for the winters I would move there in a second. I cant remeber the names of all the little towns we rode through but I loved everyone of them. Kinda sucked the weather was mid 70's for highs and mid 40's for lows and I came home to Middle TN to highs in the 90's with 90% humidity. The change back is about to kill me.
