The throttle grip on my bike doesn't return on its own. I have to manually back it down. Is this normal on a TBW? Is there anything I can adjust to make it return better?
The return spring is inside the TBW unit (the cylinder looking thing in the pic) and if it doesn't return you probably have a broken unit. The grip rotates the plastic gear you see there, and the gear rotates against spring tension so it will return to idle. Try taking the grip off and checking if it will return then, just in case the grip is rubbing somewhere.
Make sure the throttle dampner isn't too tight. Its a "star shaped" screw on the underside of the throttle. Kinda by where your thumb will be while riding.
Grips probably just too tight up agains the switch housing. Loosen the housing up and try to pull the grip away just a little bit or try to move the housing in some. Did you just change grips or anything? If this doesn't fix it you may have a broken unit. Good luck, keep us posted.

Seriously? You want to know if that is normal? Ah...NO. Check the nut that connects the handlebars to the seat. I think someone's been monkeying with the grips...

Last weekend I had my cruise set and was approaching some traffic. I rolled the throttled forward to disengage the cruise, and it didn't disengage. I tapped the brake to disengage the cruise and coasted a bit. I had poor throttle response when I would roll on the throtte, but it would snap back to idle right away.
I was a quite a way from home and on Sunday. I instantly thought after reading all the potential problems on here about the tbw, mine must be acting up.
After stopping to take a look, it was very clear that the grip had seperated from the inner sleeve. The glue just gave out on a very hot day. A quick stop to Wal-mart for some glue fixed me right up. I hope your problem is just as easy to solve.
