I have just bolted on my second hand wing airbox cover and added the new Vanse and hines slipons, The sound is nice and deep and there is a little thrump sound on the overrun.
The bike came with a stage 1 set up and I think that the plugs are OK albeit a bit light on the core(pink colour), what does anyone else think?
Can't really tell what the color of the ceramic core is but it should be a "brown paper bag" brown when the mixture is correct. I'd say if anything you might be running a little lean but it's hard to tell from the pic.
I think your right, its a pinky colour and it was check after normal running, no back firing only the odd fluff on the overun.
What is normaly changed the main jet or can you raise the needle?
I would be happy with that spark plug's coloration and appearance.
Porcelain: Indicator of timing/detonation but not mixture, and should be light gray or tan to white in color. Tiny black specs indicate preignition or detonation, and this area does not accurately determine proper mixture.
Ground strap: Indicates heat range, and in this case looks ideal. The change of color should be half-way down the strap. If it changes too close to the tip it is too cold, too far away it is too hot.
Base ring: Should be medium gray for ideal mixture. Black fluffy deposits indicates too rich, too light is too lean.
Determining mixture today isn't as easy as it was when we ran leaded gas.
