I don't know why HD f*cked with it in the first place. Many people perfer the look of two pipes in the first place. They just swapped out the slip ons and were very happy. Those that wanted a 2 into 1 can switch it out if they wanted. I was in the dealer nto to long ago and there were 5 guys in there looking at a new one with the 2 into 1 and were bitching about the looks and that it was going to cost them even more money to install a dual setup rather then just replace the mufflers for a little more growl. I quess the aftermarket is laughing because they are going to make alot more money now since more people will be going with a complete dual setup on the newer scooters.
i was not a big fan of the 2-1 look at first. i gotta admit it is growing on me. the thing that i think is funny is that hd offers 7 touring models (not including cvo line) and 2 of them come with a 2-1. it isn't like they completely did away with the 'old' 2-1-2. the 2-1 is a sportier exhaust, and they put it on the 2 models that could be considered the 'sportiest' touring bikes.
really, whats the problem? you don't like the exhaust? by a new exhaust, or a different model. problem solved.
Careful, don't go giving Harley any more bright ideas, or that'll be there idea of more performance (meaning you pay more to make it look like it is supposed to) by stripping parts off for a "sportier" look. And they'll make you pay extra for the other one in some screamin' eagle bag kit.
Hell, they might turn the street glide into a touring bobber by next year. Yikes! They really f'd up on the street glide this year.

No problems with the 2-1. Better than the clearance killing cross-under. Haven't left the pipes stock on any of the 5 H-D's I've had to this point and probably won't start with number six either.
