Have a FLHTCI just got done putting Bubs true dual / w Vance & Hines classic slip-ons also have a HD stage 1 intake. am up in the air about SERT or power commander or even V&H fuel module. Any suggestions???
I have a PCIII. I just had a post named EFI tuner. I was trying to decide to get a dyno tune or try out a Thundermax. I also have a FuelMoto map installed. I was just trying to see if I could get just that much better. After reading everybodys advise I would definatly call Jamie at FM and get a Power commander from him. That way whatever you do with any changes you always can get a map from him. To me it looks like thay are all the same. It is the tuner that makes them different.
yea there all good the problem is the guy using the equpment fuel moto makes maps that are so close youll useally be better off than a dynotune with a average operator at the controls.
PC will work. SERT will fine tune it. Pre packaged maps work just fine. But if you have a mind that won't stop ticking, get a SERT and learn it. It's a lot of fun. I tuned my bike pretty close without a dyno. The biggest problem with tuning is getting the spark advance tables correct. Anyone can throw gasoline at a motor and make power. Unfortunately for them, they don't get good gas mileage. The SERT is a very powerful tool.
Opinions abound about this subject, but here is mine.
I went with a SERT simply because I didn't want a "third party" box hanging on my bike, fooling the ECM and being a possible single point of failure. I have several riding buds that have PCIII and about half of them have had problems with failures. I also know people that have them, never had a problem and swear by them.
That said, I researched the crap out of it and decided on the SERT. I'm 100% satisfied.
According my local H-D shop tuner, the SERT has a lot more parameters that can be adjusted. However, everytime you change engine or exhaust components, it's back to the Dyno and $300.00 for a retune. I'm going with the PCV from Fuel Moto.
ok, so I decided to go with the sert for my 01' FLHTCI when it comes to find out that Screaming Eagle does not make a race tuner for the 01' FLHTCI!!! what other alternative do I have other than a third party command module??? suggestions PLEASE!!!

ThunderMax with auto tune replaces your stock ECU. You would have to check with them and see if they make it for your '01 Model year.
