I had it happen on my 1985 FLHT, and my 1989 Ultra. Each time I took the Y pipe down to the local Exhaust shop, had them weld a tab over the brake. It never happened again.
I thought it happened on my 1998 Ultra. I bought a second Y pipe and took it down to the Exhaust shop before I installed it. When I went to change it, it was not broken. I now have an extra pipe that I can't use now. I now have a 2009 FLTR and the exhaust is different.
Ok I noticed a crack in my y-pipe down on the lower y right before the right side slipon.
1st anyone have a stock y-pipe they would part with that would fit a 2001 RKC?
2nd should I just weld the cracks and cross fingers or goto stealer and replace?
3rd should I F the y-pipe and get some Duals? if so what are best V&H dressers or bassani power curves?
I ruled out Fullsacs as I would spend the hundred or so to get the V&H.
Thanks in advance.
No I don't
I welded one on my 96 and cracked again right away. I then made a patch that went between both pipes. Very time consuming to fab patch but I rode 50,000 mile with the patch. Tig welding is the route I chose when I fabbed and installed patch.
The true duals I have on my 08 are Rush.
Thanks for the advice, I'll check with local exhaust shop and see what they will charge to repair, but I'm leaning towards true duals too cool down my right cheeck
I bit the buillet and purchased V&H Dresser Duals, should be here next week. unbolted my right slip-on and pipe fell off, crack went all the way around wooo.
I always wanted a Stereo on my King I guess now I will have it.
