So I want to upgrade my audio system, I want to keep my stock head unit, but want to upgrade the speakers and add an amp. I have looked at them all, (Biketronics, Dragonfly, Hard Ride Audio, Hawg Wired, Hogtunes, J&M, and Loud Lids). They all have their advantages and disadvantages, Hawg Wired is $$$$, Hogtunes looks good but low output on their amps, J&M had the biggest speakers that fit in a fairing, Loud Lids are unique, but don't go with my taste for looks, and Hard Ride Audio is new. SO what is the general opinion out there on what works good? I do like my music to sound good, I have a system in my house and car, but have spent most of my time and money to this point on engine work and cosmetics of the bike......So this is the last thing......Help a guy out, thanks John
i am using the hog tunes tweeter pod and it increased the sound a huge amount. bright clear highs, and i'm like you, i'd also like better main speakers, but don't want to be running some third party amp either. just something more efficient that would work with my tweeter pod would be great though.
If you are wanting a full system you can't beat Firecap's amps and speakers. All the goods of Hogtunes plus the high wattage that us stereo guys are looking for (been tweaking stuff for 14 years now). Plus all of Wayn's stuff is expandable. So if you add lowers later and want to add speakers in those as well, you're all ready set up. Just do a search for his username Firecap in the members search and it has his phone number in it. He will take as much time as you need to get the right system for you even if it isn't from him.
I installed this system. It sounds great. Clear as a bell at 70. The guys riding behind me yesterday said they could hear it as well. I think it is a great deal. Wayne is great to deal with. PM him and he will answer your questions.
Welcome to the board. There are several choices. Hog tunes and Firecap seem to do quite well for what you are looking. There are others. I would do some searches on the subject and do some research after you review the thread. Read the threads carefully as you know there is always some bias. I choose Hog tunes speakers, amp, and tweeter because of my quality needs, price and ease of installation as well as vendor support. This is not to say the others do not perform as well, but this was the conclusion I came to. The support I received during Instllation was excellent. When I had a faulty amp a new one was sent before asking for the old one. I have no afillation with Hogtunes.
