...Detachable passenger backrest and grab-bar are must haves for the kids. I also recommend some highway pegs since you've got the footboard extensions covered.
Is there a particular brand of detachable passenger backrest you guys would recommend?
As far as Backrest I think the medium HD would be good, tall not good for kids and short not enough support!! Also check into a set of Kuryakin(SP) Adjustable pass. foot pegs.they mount on footrest bar and would give kids a better foot hold!!!I inquired about them a few weeks ago on here and got alot of favorable responses!!!Ride Safe and Congrats!!!!!
Hey your Ducati was a great looking bike...! They are legendary for sport riding and cornering. I also really like the new Harley you transitioned too. It really is a diffferent ride and mind set too. And the difference in comfort is non-comparable. You say you live in Plano, did you get your bike at the Harley dealership in Allen..? I too live and work in the McKinney area. Enjoy the bike, and get ready to spend a couple bucks on chrome and accessories...
Nice ride. Wish I could send you my son's email, and have you talk him into doing the exact same thing. He's got a 999R TriColor Duc, and I really wish he would get a Harley so we could do some traveling together. Good decision.

Yup, I got it at the Allen dealer. I hope to not go nuts on mods but as I'm reading through this forum's archive I have a feeling it will be hard to resist.
Question for you, how is the local HOG group or dealer sponsored rides? I'm not sure how active I'd be in that sort of thing but I'd like to give them a shot.

Heh, I'd probably be the wrong person because if I had good roads near me I'd have a 1098 Tri-colore meself ;-) On the other hand, if my dad rode Harleys, I'd have bought one a long time ago. It would be awesome to ride together. Perhaps your son will get the sport riding out of his system after a couple of years and buy a Harley.
