I'm looking for a backyard or other economical place to camp for tomorrow-Tuesday the 25th in the Adirondacks. I'm doing a last minute 2 day trip there and need a place to pitch my tent. If anyone knows of a motorcycle friendly or especially nice campground that would help as well.
Thanks,
Dave
Spokes..that's a pretty open statement. The Adirondacks are huge. Where exactly are you planning on stopping?? There's tons of places to stop and stay. Just do a google search for tenting in the Adirondacks....you'll find what you need.
I want to be in the heart of it. I'll be leaving from ct around noon so I can't get too far west but was thinking of west of Lake George maybe around Indian Lake
Try that site. If your planning on going west of Lake George..you better have an idea of where...cause there's not much there. You'd want to know where your staying before coming up here. The adirondack park is big and if you don't know where your going it can be a long night. Don't put yourself in that situation.
How about speculator area there is moffits beach campground and there is a nice little reasonable hotel near indian lake called the adirondack trail across the street from the biker friendly bear trap bar wich has food then you are rigt there to start your rte 28 loop one of my favorite rides.
You are at the start of the best riding area to me if it helps you I start from Amsterdam go north on rte 30 untill it runs into rte28 make a left and start what we call the loop we follow it up and around tupper lake then back i believe northeast to lake placid area then whiteface mountain is a must of the ride for me. They charge to go on whiteface but it is worth it. you can leave there and complete the loop back to indian lake or jump on the thruway and blast back towards home have fun you will enjoy it.
