Default Radio

My 06 Ultra has one, so far no issues. I never listen to it when I'm riding, just when I'm parked, working on the bike, cleaning the bike or just hanging around the garage having a beer. The only sound I want to hear when I'm riding is the motor sounding great and the wind around me.

HD knows that more than half of the problems are not inherent to the radio, but the bike. I cant tell you how often we have seen customers with multiple HK issues that turned out to be broken fairing brackets. Dearlers (most) are useless when it comes to actually diagnosing the issue. I assume if I know the brackets brake, so do they. We spoke to a dealer out of the Detroit area last week. Customer on 5th radio!!! Sure enough...broken brackets. This customers issues could have been solved 4 radios ago if the person working on it took just a little time and effort. HD is now on it's 5th year with this unit. If they believed the HK radio was such a piece of garbage (and ultimately an added expense due to warranty issue) they would have dumped it years ago.

06 SG with stock HK, Only issue I had was that it would not play the mp3's on a cd until i did the firmware upgrade...and even then you have to burn the songs on the slowest settings. After that the unit only reads about 50% of the songs

My dealer will take care of me, not worried about that, but a vehicle costing as much as $30,000 should not have a chronic problem with a box of plastic and circuit boards. WTF is the moco doing about this problem?
I agree with the poster that stated that Harley will do nothing about it as long as the bikes keep selling. The toy speakers that Harley chose to install on these bikes tells the story.

The HK unit going out on me for good was a blessing in disguise.

The aftermarket head unit is SO much better sounding.

My dealeer is VERY good and he has the same tech work on my bike since new. The roads here in Maine are very rough so maybe the brackets could have taken a beating. I hit a pothole in town that I had no chance to avoid and it broke the turn signal lense and burned the bulb out!

I'm not impressed with the reception, and I also get ignition static. I haven't tried the CD on the road.

Ignition noise is not a product of the radio, check the radio ground. may also solve your reception issue.
