Going to try and tackle the installation of the rwd cat eye tail light on my 07 SG stock fender this weekend.
I have the fender adapter and light. The kit also came with the load equalizer.
Very easy install. Put on on my 04 Road King and was basically a plug and play. Had to drill a couple extra holes in the fender to mount but that was it. Probably going to put on on the SG fairly soon as well.
Your gonna love the look and the functions. When I did my 09 SG it bolted right up with no modifications. Covered all the existing holes. The biggest bitch I had was removing the old pig tail wiring from the rubber conduit glued to the top of my fender. The conduit keeps the wires up and out of the way of the tire. I wanted to utilize the factory route of the wires for a neat install. I took the wires loose from the factory electrical connector at the old tail light. You can use a safety pin or sewing needle to lift the tabs that holds the electrical pins in the connector. Once I got them out I laid a long string against the wires then used black electrical tape to secure the string to the wires. I then pulled the wires thru the rubber conduit towards the front of the bike. I tie a knot at the end of the string so it doesn't pull thru under the tape. Pulling this sounds easy but since the conduit is rubber there was a lot of friction. I found using a silicone spray helped quite a bit getting the wires thru. Once I got the old wires all the way thru I cut my string at the rear of the bike with leaving enough length to attach to the new wiring. I attached the new wiring like I did with the old wiring. Using the end of the string that was pulled thru the conduit at the front of the bike I pulled the new wiring the same direction as I did pulling the old wiring out. Simple as that. Hopefully I decribed this clearly. Good luck
Can anyone with this set-up please post a few pictures? I am very interested, but would like to know how the completed project looks. I am thinking of adding this to my ultra.
Not sure if I want to do the RWD or the one Yaffee has with no lights (other than a plate light built into the frame) since I already have plenty of lights with the tri-bar, shotguns and led strips that I will be adding this weekend between the fillers and the bags.
