Yes..there were directions....but nothing about cutting the ecm plate. With ABS there's no room. If anyone has pictures of a PC-V and pictures of the ecm plate cut...would be VERY helpful.
Mine lays right on top of the battery assembly, one loop of the wireing is poked down in front. The sg seat has a resess under it. i have abs and there is little room, but I have had no issues.
I struggled putting mine in my 08 w/ABS. I did finally cut the tray. Sorry, no pics. But, it's not that big an issue. From the air cleaner side, look at the tray. The area that needs trimmed is the upper right, as you are looking at it. I started the cut just inside the corner and removed a piece about 1/2 inch wide and 3 or so inches long. The module will fit in there. It's tight, but it will fit. I think everything else followed the "extra" directions for the ABS bikes.
For those that don't know, the ABS unit is in the right side cover, (where other tourers can put their PC units). With the ABS, there isn't room for much more than a fuse or two.
Thanks troy j. I took your ideal and cut a old mouse pad and put it on top of the battery. I put the PC-V and all other connectors on top of battery and secured everything in place. PC-V is running great and keeping my bike cooler. Thanks for everyone's help and advice.
crap, I am going to be doing this soon to my 08 RG and would be afraid of removing the tray all together for a piece of foam that could get wet and degrade.
On my 08 glide with ABS I took the battery out and put the first connector in the front part of the frame in front of the battery moved some wires around dropped the bat. back in and secured the pc unit on top of the tray. No problems at all. Sorry can figure that out have no idea how to get pics posted on this site.
