the lower gearing would be beneficial at take off, and maybe make 6th gear more usable? and the screamin eagle compensator has a stiffer spring so that the knock on startup is either eliminated or lessened? this sounds like me and my service manual are gonna have to visit, as this seems like a doable project at home. thanks guys, good information.
I am about to undertake this project myself as my 103 sounds so bad at start-up it is embarrassing. Been trying to locate the part but everywhere I checked with it is on BO and my local dealer does not stock it.
I had a problem finding the se compensator from on line venders. They were saying on back order. My local dealer got one in 10 days and was $224
Installed today
Big improvement. No lash, no kick back when starting, no knock when starting and a much smoother when riding.
The best part, well maybe, is when passing and increasing speed it is smooth. It was good advice to hear about it here on the forum.
