Sorry to hear the bad news however there is a bright side.....you weren't on the bike traveling 60 and having to lay it over cause some dumb SOB pulls out if front of you. Ask me how I know. EVERYONE will lay their bike down at some point. Yours was the safest way.
Exactly what he said. Like we all say, there are only those who have laid their bike down, and those who will . If you can get the paint code, any PPG supplier will have the paint to match yours.
I stumbled across a used Craftsman bike lift (red) that I picked up for $40. It works great for changing fluids and other maintenance jobs. Way more stable than I expected ... and you don't have to worry about wind gusts.
Swung by a local body shop after work tonight....says it is no biggie to fix, just a Benjamin Franklin and 2 or 3 days...... "IF" Harley gave out the paint codes. How in the heck do I go about finding the DuPont paint code for black pearl? Does harley sell paint or am I just SOL? I see in the Harley accessory dream book they stopped making the latch plates in each color....just vivid black or primed. Just. My. Luck. He said there was a place about an hr and a half away that I could have them take a pic to make the paint...then fade it in. That sounds like something that would have to wait until winter. If it isn't something, it's darn well something else.
Yeah....I better get a lift. For a first timer as a Harley owner....you kinda buy things piece by piece as you go along and as you figure stuff out..... or if you think you need it...or like this instance, abruptly find out I do need it!! Lots of gas, a back tire and the service manual has been about as far as I've got. I think I will learn though....it's just gonna take me longer than I expected. :-)
Man! Don't you just hate that. I dropped mine the third day I had it...gotta love the crash bars. The part I'm struggling with though is why the gravel driveway is more level than the garage? Anyway, I'm sure she'll be shiny again in no time.
