I have put after market silencers on my EGC. Can you do the high flow air cleaner without changing the pcm tuning? If so is there any performance increase? Thanks in advance H-2
when upgrading your exhaust and intake, need to change the tune also (via reflash, canned tune or dyno). yes, you will see perfomance gains in hp and tq
thanks for the replies. I think I will stop with the slip ons this year. It never ends with mods I know. I will have to save a little scratch over the winter for the tuner and a/c
I have stock exhaust on my 2009 FL cut out most of the backing plate for the air filter. No download.Seems to run better ,love the sound, just a low tech red neck.
Geezer glide please elaborate on the cutting out most of the backing plate on the air filter? Thanks
hedgehorn I have to go to work shortly .I will try to post some pictures on here tonight.
I would suggest going by your local dealer and asking if they have a takeoff backing plate for the 09 air cleaner set up,you can probably get one for little or nothing. I did this in case I didn't like the end result.Just like staying alive on motorcycles,Always leave yourself an escape route. I used a cutoff wheel .But I guess you could use a drenel tool or any rotary type cutting tool.
If you have the breather off of your bike and the backing plate on the table in front of you ,you will notice the two brass holes at the top this is where the breather bolts go through to the heads,it is important that you leave this on the backing plate as this helps support the plate to your induction module.I made a diagonal cut from the outside of each of those openings toward the bottom of the backing plate.I am running out of time like I said I will try to get some pictures on here tonight.A picture is worth a thousand words Later
