Put them on this winter and they have never come off. I had really hot day and it wasn't bad at all.

Leave mine on year round. I believe that they keep the engine cooler, anyone know for fact?

The majority of the used ones I see for sale look like they been to a hog killing(scuffing, rock chips etc). Do these things take that much of abuse?

I think you will like the lowers. I don't think you need the quick release setup. It takes less than ten minutes to remove the lowers anyway.

Having lowers was one reason I went with the Ultra. Leave 'em on all year. I think an Electra-Glide without them looks incomplete. I like the vents, the extra storage and never think twice about any extra heat. If you're stopped, there's no breeze anyhow and if you're moving, well, go faster!
