Maybe go with the RK Standard. Comfortable ride, lockable hard bags, cast wheels (easy to fix-a-flat), no bells & whistles per se and probably better suited to a guy your size. I had a Sportster B4 my '02 FLHRI and the only issue I experienced was getting used to handling the mass/weight but it comes easily enuf after a few rides.

Harley's offering's are 'all good' but I don't think you can go wrong with the RK...as always, you gotta decide which is best for yourself.

Look at Mountainkowboy's RK. You can make a full touring machine out of a Road King with a full fairing, tour pack and lowers fairly quickly.

I knew I was getting a bagger after a couple of years on the Sportster, but didn't know which one. I went to the dealer thinking about a RK, but ended up on the SG. Wifey felt more comfortable in the back and I was hooked on having some tunes.

Do anything you have to, to try a Road Glide. Ride it for at least 50 miles. Then decide.

I have a the RK listed in my signature photo. I'm not going to tell you not to buy one. Just want you to see what happened to mine.

You might want to look at the Road Glide first if your looking for comfort.

And, I'm also 6'3" and the bike is not long enough as a RK. So if your really looking for comfort any of the touring models will need a peddle extension kit or fwd crash bar pegs or something for your legs to stretch out on a ride. I get cramped up all the time.

What ever you do, "Don't" Forget your wife, you may think that the RK is comfort, to her sliding off the back may not be her cup of tea. Why do you think that she wanted you to get rid of the sporty?
