Just purchased a solo seat from Corbin and was wondering.Once the seat is installed and the wife now wants to go for a ride, can the stock seat be reinstalled with no hassle? . I will eventually purchase a passenger pillon from Corbin.
I had a "Corbin" solo at one time and I think with the hidden mount that Corbin uses it will be a pain to change out all of the hardware everytime you want to put the stock HD seat on.
I can't really comment on the change over, but one thing I learned is when you switch back to the 2-up seat, put something between the seat and the fender, like micro-fiber or something, so that the seat won't wear the paint. You fender will stay looking nicer longer.
I've changed at least 1000 times. Depends on what bike you have, and which setup you have on the Corbin. But, it's no biggee to throw the stock seat back on to take the wife along. Might take you 2-3 minutes, tops. No worries, you made a good decision.
I have a 2007 street glide. I saw a post on here last night for a sale on corbin seats. The sale was for a classic solo for the 2004 cvo ultras. The post said it would fit a street glide, I hope so. The seat was only $199. Thought that was a good deal. I jumped before doing alot of inquiring. I was hopeing the seats were easily interchangeable between the corbin and stock. Not alot of money to buy the passenger pillon. May have to finish the riding season solo without the wife.
If you haven't installed the seat yet, I think you'll find it is a close fit. The hardware alignment is fine in order that the lock functions. The mechanics of pulling the hardware and installing is easy, I found lining it up a problem.
I'd advise if you are going to exchange seats that you use a pencil or something that won't rub off and mark the angle of the front bar , but more import. where you place the rear moveable bracket.
You don't want the lock to jam.
Yeah, you can change it back and forth. Just takes a few minutes to dismount and mount the corbin hardware. After a while, you can do it pretty quick.
Yep, once you've done it a couple times it'll take you just a couple minutes to get it ready for mama. I do this with my Danny Gray solo - have to remove the DG mount hardware but it's just two nuts that hold it on: remove the hardware and put the two nuts back on then put the OEM seat on using the one screw.
I've got a Corbin solo, a C&C solo, a Mustang two up and the stock seat. I don't use the stock seat much anymore but I switch between the other three depending on how I feel that day. It's not a big deal. I may send the stock seat out to get it reworked just to add another seat to the rotation.
