Default flhtp controls

Just bought a 2007 flhtp, how do I go about changing the controls to a normal EG. Need this done as cheap as posible, then its time for radio. Are there wiring diagrams available. Thanks

Buy the HD 2007 Touring Model Service Manual and buy the 2007 Police Supplement. Excellent wiring diagrams in the back of each, as well as great information on how to disassemble/reassemble the connectors and crimp the pins/sockets that they use on the wires.

If you plan to add the radio with handlebar controls, you will need to create the base audio connector that is part of the civilain interconnect harness and plugs into the back of the radio or buy a civilian interconnect harness and replace the police interconnect harness on the bike.

As a new FLHTPI owner, you will learn to cherish those service manuals and the wiring diagrams they contain if you want handlebar controls of your headunit, cruise control, oil pressure gauge, etc.

I've done what I described above on my '04 FLHTPI from fabbing the base audio connector to later replacing the interconnect harnesses. My suggestion is to just bite the bullet and find a new or used interconnect harness, find the handlebar switches, and avoid hacking/modifying the bike's current police interconnect harness.

Good luck with your project.

PS: There's nothing "cheap" about what you want to do.
