Thanks...All the props go to Jim and Joe at Smokin HD. (Formerly Curleys) They are great.
Speaking of Smokin H-D I have heard the new management are a bunch of A-Holes. Never done any business at that dealer with Curley or the new , just something I heard!
I have the SE 103" with SE 255 cams and I definately needed the CRs. After fighting it for 5,000 miles and three starter clutches, I finally added the automatic releases. You should do it when you install the 103 or you'll be pulling the heads and doing it later. I had the dealer install them and while it was there the mechanic didn't like the way the primary sounded and I ended up getting warranty replacement on the starter, compensator, and clutch. I upgraded to the SE compensator and high torque starter. It was like getting a new bike.
Thinking of doing the stage II 103" kit in my 08 Road Glide. When I read the SE catalog it states that compression releases are recommended. Are they really necessary for this upgrade? The way I understand it is the big bore and pistons are not that high in compression. Curious what others on here have installed with their 103" kits and whether running compression releases or not. Thanks all. Trying to save a few bucks by not drilling into my heads.
CRs are a great idea -- I will have them done when my heads are worked.
However, I used the stock heads with my 103 build and this posed a few hot start issues. My solution was to use the cranking fuel #'s from the 103 HTCC file. Simple fix.
I had the CRs installed during my build along with the Heavy Duty starter. I have the SE258 cam and when I don't use the CR, the starter has to work hard against the 10.5:1.

I have not done any business since the buy out so I can't say. The service department has the same people and they are great. We'll see how it goes. Like everywhere, there is good and bad.

How much $ for adding the compression releases? Thx
