Hello all I'm a new member to this forum. My first Harley is a 1974 XLCH Sporster, I've been wrenching on and riding for the past 10 years. I've been putting approximately 18,000 miles a year on this bike and figured its time to give it and me a rest. The 74 is currently down for a total engine rebuild, probably gonna STROKE IT! But I've become impatient the not riding and having to drive my pickup in this beautiful weather is driving me nuts. So me and wife had a talk, told her its time to retire the XL to the sunday circuit and get something to take the miles. So I'm now the proud owner of a 2006 Electra Glide Classic. Hello, its a good thing that I'd never rode one of these bikes 5 or more years ago cause I know now what I've been missing. Anyhow all advice will be appreciated and thanks for having me.

Congrats and welcome, my first HD was a 79 XLCH and am now sporting a 00EGC. I think if you were putting 18K a year on a 74 sporty you are going to enjoy the classic. Ride safe.
