V&H Monster Ovals. But, did you take a look at Fuel Moto's new Jackpot carbon fiber mufflers introduced 9/01 (free plug for Jamie!). If not; http://www.fuelmotousa.com/home.htm
I'm researching exhausts myself. I wish I could talk myself into the Samson fishtail drag pipes because they would look great on my bike, but they're way too loud. I guess I'm not really the hooligan that I think I am ;-)
One of my closest friends just put one of the Samson true dual/fishtail systems on his heritage springer.
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeettt!!!!!!
Ya, it's a little louder than my supertrapp se slipons, but it sounds so good! not too loud, in my opinion.
CFR (Cary Faas Racing). The deepest/throatiest/ fullest sound for Harley baggers. And they look pretty damn good too, especially on 2009 and 2010 models because of the wider rear end.
They sound so much better than the Rineharts but they're louder too.
Oh you said "........ that you don't own"? My bad, I just bought a set and they're going to replace my Rineharts in a couple of days.
well if i didnt have my true dual rineharts (which i love-just enough bark when you want and calm when u dont) i would deff go with anything from V&H...i love the big radius or big shots
Thanks--a lot of good ideas. I'm really starting to rethink the true dual thing. Ideally I wanted to stick to slip-ons due to cost and that HD has done a good job with the header pipe for 2009. I guess that's the real issue making it a tough choice for me--do I want to sacrifice power for sound? My other bike's got 135hp on tap, so the Road King feels relatively slow anyway, so what's a little more difference. (The 135hp makes no sound though.)
Fishtails look great on the King! I'm thinking the Samson straight pipe will be too loud and I can't find any sound clips of the Samson Longtails (if they had removable baffles, I'd probably take a gamble). Now, the VH big shots can be fitted with fishtails. Hmm...
Does anyone have an opinion regarding the new mufflers from HD? I am thinking of changing the stock mufflers on my '09 Classic Ultra and have heard that a lot of Harley owners are glammering for these new, apparently "adjustable" pipes.
I guess I'm in the Old Man's Club as well. Just traded up to an 09 SG and can't seem to decide what I want to do. I'd like it a little louder but not much as I'm liking the radio. Besides I'm half deaf already.
I'm thinking about leaving the stock mufflers on and getting a Big Sucker and PC V.
Y'all can have the loud pipes. However, if I had to pick one, it would be Thunderheader. The styling is a subjective call, but the sound is the best I've heard. Me and a friend came to this conclusion after listening to lots of different pipes at Sturgis.
