Default Backrest falling off

I just bought a used 2009 Ultra and rode it home from Houston TX, I love this bike, but when I got off the bike at home I looked back and saw the passenger backrest just hanging on by one side. WTF! I saw three rubber mounting points and only one was still attached, the right side. it looks like the others came unglued is that possible? I should take it down to the dealer it would be under warrenty but should it just hook back on there some how?

Does your Ultra have a detachable set-up? Should have a tour-pac back there, not a backrest.

You referring to the Backrest that is attached to the tour pak? Pictures is a good idea but if you got warranty I would take it back to the dealer.

Yes, it is the back rest that is atached to the tour pac. I have wiggled it around and the center mount seams to have seated into it's place and is holding but the other side is still loose. I doesn't look as if it is coming in contact with the mounting area. I guess I will waste the day and go down to the dealer. Pictures would be difficult, I can hardly see up in behind the rest as it is.

If I am understanding correctly....what is broken is a rubber piece that is fused to some plastic with a bolt sticking out of it.... It is probably broken at the Rubber -Plastic point of fusion... I had two of them brake.. seems to be common for 09...based on what the service guy in New Mexico told me.. We were in the middle of a 3 k mile trip when I discovered the problem. Go to the dealer..it is under waranty !

Just had the problem show up this weekend on my 09 Ultra. We were at the Springfield mile when I opened the tourpak and realized the pad was hanging kinda free. Two of the three rubber bushings came lose from the brackets. The rubber bushings are bonded to some metal disks that attach to brackets. It looks like whatever they are using to bond is not working or fails over time.

I used some double sided tape just to get us home. Is this design new, I've never had this problem on previous tourpak backrests.

I have had both of the outer isolators come apart on me. 1st on before Sturgis, had it replaced, the 2nd one at Sturgis. Same dealer relplace both under warranty on my 09 UC. The parts com in a 3pc set but only change the ones that are broke. So far both of the ones that have been changed are OK along with the center one.
