I can't tell you about your problem but I will offer some advice. I have 5 HD dealers within an hours ride from me and would only have mechanical work done at one of them. I spent a year in El Paso and (claimed worlds largest HD dealership) mechanics have a terrible reputation. IOW, go to a dealership you can trust, regardless of the severity of the problem. Outside of that, for a bike such as my 01 RK out of warranty, I have several great mechanics near me that are very reasonable, one who works for Kendall Johnson.

There's a Tech. Bulletin/Tip on the plastic isolators.

Thanks for the bulletin, I printed off a copy and took it to the dealer. Service rep never heard of the problem so I took the backrest off to show him. About that time one of the mechanics came in early and said he had some of the bushings in his tool box. 10 minutes later I was on my way. Mechanic said this is an old design been out for years and he's never seen them fail. If you have an 09 though you might want to check this occasionally. They got a bad batch of bushings and I just happened to have a bike with them.
