Bought my 2009 Ultra a little over a month ago and have about 3000 miles. This is my first Harley after several new BMW cycles. One thing I really noticed on the Harley is a very obvious break-in as compared to my BMW cycles. The engine is much smoother now than earlier. Power comes on quicker. The engine just seems plain happier.... Can't explain it very well.
So far, I am very happy with the change. I thoroughly am enjoying every mile and can't wait for some long tour trips. The HD is so easy to handle at low speeds and is surprisingly agile at any speed. I love the low end power and not shifting so much to find a drive through town gear. The riding position is much more comfortable and offer more choices on the long rides.
I appreciate the immense wealth of knowledge shared on this site. What a resource!
See you on the road with a big smile.
Gotta go ride. It's a perfect evening... no wind, 70 degrees. Season end is getting to close to waste a chance to ride.
Thanks for the great feedback and comparison; glad you are enjoying your new Ultra. Once you experience some miles on an Ultra you really start to understand how much pleasure there is in riding a motorcycle. Keep the shiny side up!
now ain't ya glad that you didn't go out and get a goldwing? there is a huge difference. all i got is a streetglide, but i'm very, very happy with it. the options are ENDLE$$.
