Default Biketronics, Sony Radios and Rain

Just spent 4 days riding in the Smokies , in the rain.

I am wanting to add the Biketronics kit to my electra glide standard. All the rain I rode in last weekend has me conserned.

If i'm setting beside the road in the pouring rain will the front of the radio not get enough water to screw things up?

I know alot of you guys have this set up. What are you seeing out there?

The marine radio looks good I'm thinking about going that way, but also like the different color face on the Sony 400.

Any thoughts and imput is appreciated.

ZZ

Don't spend the extra money on the marine radio unless you ride all the time in the rain. I have a buddy that ride all year and he has the sony and don't have any problem with it at all.

Hey zzrider,
I have the Biketronics Retro radio kit with a Sony CDXF50M, marine radio along with Pez's Hogtunes speakers. I was also concerned about getting the radio wet even with the marine radio so I ordered the rain cover from Biketronics. It may be a little overkill but it gives me a peace of mind, and still less than $550.00. I'm very happy with the set-up.

I just bought the Biketronics Retro Radio kit with the Sony CDX-GT400 and I love it. I added the XM Sat. Radio module to it for an extra $99.00 and it works great. The GT400 also plays MP3's on CD and I put 220 tunes (Oldies but Goodies .. Like Me) on 1 CD. We just returned from a nice 1,230 mile loop through the California National Parks and I listened to the MP3's when the XM temp lost signal in the mountains. As far as rain, I haven't had any experience in it yet but Mike at Biketronics said he should have a Road Glide rain cover in production by the end of June. All in all it's a great system.

I've got the sony 5710,biketronic's mounts(no interface,i dont have thumb controls on my EG Police) hogtunes speakers, and i bought the rain cover as well from biketronic's. I keep the rain cover in my tour pak for the heavy down pours, but mostly use it for when i wash the bike, the direct spray from the hose doesn't go past the radio rain cover,so I think it would work very well riding in the rain. happy with my set up.
