Default 40amp or 48 amp

Talked to a local Indy shop on my charging system & they suggested the 40 amp Compufire instead of Cycle electronics CE48T. Could save me a couple of hundred $$ but not sure it would work right. Anyone use the 40 amp on a Ultra?

So either no one has seen this & it is to far down the line, or not that many people want or can help me on this.

Since 2004, the Electra Glides have had 45 amp charging systems; and that's been increased in the past couple of years. Depending on the age of your bike, you could probably retrofit the HD stuff.

Was looking for stator info on another forum and alot of guys recommended the CE unit over the stock HD unit. Didn't know Compufire had a setup for this. What year is the Ultra?

From 48 to 40 is giving up almost 20% of your Charging ability .. That just don't sit right with me especially for an Ultra and all it's goodies...

It's a 1999. I know what you mean as far as it not sitting right. I am afraid that it might burn out prematurely not having enough amps or running at it's max. I think the CE is the way to go,but may check into a HD set up, I think I read about an upgrade stator, so will check them out.
