Question StreetGlide Bag Bars?

Almost dropped my Street glide the other day backing it out of its garage/trailer. Made me think, once it starts going and gets beyond a certain point, there is no way I'm going to stop it. I'd really hate to mess up the paint on my hard bags with a simple lay over.

I'm really torn on this issue. I really like the clean looks of the Street glide but as we all know sooner or later it's going to go down. Hopefully when it happens, to me and mine, it will be in a slow speed condition and not at 70 mph.

I've looked at the HD parts site and seen the bag crash bars but I just can't see where they attach below the seat on the Street Glide without some kind of modification to the side cover.

Has anybody out there put crash bars on their Street glide saddle bags?
If you have, could you tell me which part number and how they attach and maybe show a pic.

I'm still contemplating whether to put them on or not or even if I can without modifying something on the bike. Thanks for any input.

sorry dont have the part numbers but you will need the complete kit. The support bars that you have are not designed for the crash bars. I looked into cutting a pair and mounting the crash bars but it was not going to work with out a lot of heat and bending. Here is a pic of mine with the bars. I was able to pick up a set for about the same as I sold my stock support bars.

I've been thinking about this but was wondering;

Once you remove the bottom support rails, how are the saddlebags supported?

Thanks Heathen. I guess I should of taken off the seat and looked (duh). For some reason I kept focusing on the side of the frame.

Thanks for the pics Missile your bike looks great. They really give me the image I was looking for. I think I'm going to do it, if for nothing else a little peace of mind.

Thanks again guys.

The lower you mount some highway pegs on the front engine guard, the better off you'll be if you do end up tipping over..

When you buy the new kit, it comes with new bottom support rails that connect into the guards.

Go with the custom profile crash bars......They blend in nicely and give your passenger more room....

Check e-bay out for the lower support bars.....You can pick up a complete set of supports, bars and rails cheap...Sell what you don't need and recoup your cost of the profile bars....
