Default getting scared to drive at night

Who has put deer whistles on their bikes and do they work.
I saw these on the net,....http://www.xp3hornet.com/
Anyone try these ? Any others that may be better?

In the last month here in Arkansas , I've seen about 40 deer and have just missed hitting them 4 different times, not to meniton the several possums and one skunk .

I drove through a group of about 10 crossing HWY 70 at 55 mph and thank GOD did not hit one. No wonder the guy in the truck was flashing his lights at me, I was looking for a State Trooper.
Be very careful in AR highways and back roads . HWYs 5, 7, 9, and 70 at dusk and dark is scaring the hell out of me.

I don't believe in whistles but live and ride by the "rule of three" - I went down hard in 2005 on a rural road in Iowa as a result of a doe-bike situation. On this occation there was only one deer. We have huge mule deer here in the TX Panhandle - I've never seen just one cross the road. When I encounter one crossing the Farm to Market two lane I live on, I pull off and wait patiently as the other two cross - like clock work!

Our biggest issue here is Antelope - the average Antelope is a bit dumber than a new box of hammers... they refuse to jump fences and will butt at a fence until they make a hole or find an opening - again, I pull off and wait until I'm sure it's safe to pass.

I didn't believe in the wistles , but saw the electronic ones listed in my post and wondered if,....
I didn't have time to pull over and let them pass, at night I could see them untill too late.
Was hoping someone has used such and can give a report.

We have more than 2x the deer to human population here in our county in Alabama. Most folks around here will tell you the whistles work great. They call the deer right to you. Plenty of vehicles with the whistles on them find deer in their paths. The rule of "3" might be your best bet.

im up here in the poconos, if i dont see 30 to 50 deer at night on my ride home i dont see any. you need to learn to scan the roadsides and the road at the same time. if you see 1, you can bet 2 or 3 more will be right behind them. problem here is they feed on the edge of the road, and you dont know what they will do when you see them. just be cautious is all you can do, slow down at night and look for their eyes. the worse are the fawns, they are very unpredictable. you right though, its down right scarey driving up here at night.

interesting thread. did you know that when it's a full moon out they're all over the place? reason being they can see to do their forraging, eating, etc. when it's the dark of the moon is the safest nighttime riding, they aren't out running all over the place eating then.

I never had much luck with the whistles. What does work is Rob Zombie blaring out of the stereo on my Street Glide. I have seen more deer running the other direction since I got my Street Glide. Maybe they hear me coming. I see alot of deer on my way home every evening. I can still see them but only their white tails!!!

I have worked many car/deer accidents where the car had deer whistles...I also struck a deer on my motorcycle which was equipped with a deer whistle my insurance agent gave me. From what I have seen, they do not work.

Had them on my cage when I lived in PA as did everyone else; they do not work.

There is nothing that works. If you drive at night, the only thing you can do is slow down, keep your eyes open, and hope for the best. The "Rule of Three" is a pretty good rule IMO!
