I went to north carolina with this bike club who are known to ride hard on their bikes. My bike did real well in its performance in riding with these guys who were averaging 85-90mph heading down their and that 203 cam was working with ease.
You must have a nice stock 88 because the guys that were riding with us that had their stock bikes those engines were whining out pretty hard out there and especially when it came time to getting in and out of traffic it seem that these bikes had a more harder time finding more horses to weave in and out of the cars once already at that speed but hey congrats on your stock 88 you must have one of the nicer ones.
Well if your talking about some sort of racing of some kind like drag racing or something maybe your stock can go up against stafford's stock and lets see who wins, but i myself am not into racing so yes you are right i would not want to see you.
That's funny. I've all the set-ups I had on my 03 RK Std with carburated TC88, the 203's were in my favorite. I had the 203's, Big Sucker A/C w/ Dynojet kit, 95" kit, stock compression, with V&H duals into tuned Cycle Shack slip ons. In my quest for power I then made one mistake after another until my bike started leaking oil, peaking out at 3000 rpm, and running rough. Tons of torque and I could pop a wheelie, but overall it ran like crap.
The thing I loved about the 203's were as another poster mentioned: pulling smooth and linear and strong from 2000-5000 rpm. When I switched to Andrews geared cams the motor did not like revving over 3000, which is pathetic with a 5 speed. Yeah I know that shouldn't have been the case, but it was.
Carbidedude,
you are so right. When i went to NC over the weekend not with those 203's i was running strong but i was getting over 170 miles on a full tank of gas and we were getting it down the road. The other guys that had their big builds were getting gas after around 95 miles of riding.I mean hell with the right build in those 203's you can cruise at 70-75 mph and still get more torque up to 90 mph and hit that 5th gear and keep it moving without going into 6th gear. I think for the buck the 203 is the best cam to have compared to those other big builds that people have who will spend over 10k for those builds that when you get on that highway and your running with a group of 14 other riders those 203's are the best for the money.
hey mark ive had a 95kit 203cams knn and rinehart truduals since december08 and my dino read 93hp and 102 tq way better than stock and good enough for me, very happy oh sorry 06 roadking custom
