Default Touring Seats

Can anyone tell me the difference in a 1996 Ultra Classic Seat and the 97-07's?

The mounting hardware is different so won't interchange. Just like the new '08 and '09 touring models won't take seats from '07 and earlier...

The '96 is also shorter in overall length (by an inch or two).

Those earlier seats were pretty low-tech! If you are not very comfortable that is no surprise. You may not be able to get a replacement now, but there is a dealer who gets frequent mentions on HDF who can re-upholster to your requirements. Do a search for seats here in Touring.

Found them: Mean City Cycles

I went through the same issue with my 96 glide. The only company that made a replacement seat for the '95 and '96 was Mustang. I found it online for about $475 I think. I'm very happy with it. It moved my butt a little further back and made my posture much more comfortable. Much better than the stocker. Hope this helps....

Dunno know when you bought your seat, but Corbin has seats for E-glides going back to '65. Both solos and two-ups.

When I was looking at Corbin, they had solo seats for the '95 & '96, but not a two-up. At least I couldn't find anything on-line for those years. The frame was different as well as the way the seat mounted. There was another company, but they were more expensive. I don't remember the name...
