oil breaks down, that's the point of synthetic oil. They say in a car it will last 30,000 miles. I have had synthetic in my corvette since new. If u are going to change your oil less then every 5000 miles i think you are wasting your money on synthetic. Jmo
Use HD Dino, change oil every 2,000mi. I have used syn, but figure I'm wasting my money. If dino gets dirty at 2,000mi then syn has to do the same. I think the 5,000mi oil change is a sales gimmick and don't believe in it. I feel the same about cage engines. Just My 2 cents.
2500 miles, new filter, and conventional oil. Just feels right. Now if I could just keep the oil from running down the front of the motor and the mounts

+1..........The 5,000 and 7,500mi oil changes that are recommended are for ideal driving conditions, then there are exterme driving conditions, ie. rain, dust, freezing, and high ambient temps, then change every 3,000 mi is what they say. Who doese'nt drive in these conditions?
5K is listed in the owners manual for a reason, anything short of that is a waste of $. That is backed by the company's engineers and that of the manufacture of the oil as well. Relax and go with what the owner's manual says.
At 5k is just fine unless you ride very few miles and short distances (IE: it takes you two years to go 5,000 miles, then I'd do it every 2500 or the beginning of each riding season).
