After gassing up after a 50 mile leg on our vacation, my 96 FLHTC wouldn't turn over....you know the sound...click...click. Voltmeter showed no charging even after jumped and of course engine died when battery discharged minutes later. Towed to HD and told besides new regulator and circuit breaker that the battery was "toast" and had to be replaced. No mention of load testing just that the HD machine said the battery was dead. I had a similar experience a couple of years ago when the stator had to be replaced and the battery recharged after a half hour ride. Is this situation different or did I get sold a battery I didn't need?
The battery may be toast, but protocol is to put it on the charger overnight and then test it with the Midtronics battery tester after it has sat on the charger.
