Default Fuelmoto Baffles

Hello, I have a set of the jackpot mufflers on my 09 road king. I like the sound but would like it to be a little louder, so I ordered a larger baffle from fuelmoto yesterday.

My question is what would removing the baffles do to the bike? I know it would be louder, but would it cause any loss in performance or damage?

Thanks very much.

Larger baffles usually mean less low-end TQ and more peak HP, but likely not enough to notice if you enlarge only ˝". I know Rush and Fuel Moto don't recommend the 2˝" baffles for this reason, but sell them for those who value loudness over performance. Going up ˝" shouldn't change the map significantly either.

I reduced my Jackpot baffle size from 2" to 1.75" on the right side only and couldn't tell the difference in performance, although it was slightly quieter, and that was my goal.

Do the New Jackpotts look almost identical to the stock pipes? That is the only thing holding me back from getting the dyno tunned performance package. I know the sound and performance will be improved but would like the pipes to look a little different as well. Really was hoping Jamie was going to come out with a Jackpott Oval but that will probably be after I get new pipes...LOL.

I don't think they'll look much like stock muffers. There are some photos on the Jackpot site, but compared to the old Jackpots the front flanges are cleaner with no weld visible, similar to Rush, and the slash type are cut at a lower angle than the old Jackpots, about the same angle as the back of the saddlebags. I also understand the chrome is better, the rear cut cleaner, and the rear hangers are a neater design. I'm also very anxious to see the tips that will be available in polished and black.

Going up ˝" shouldn't change the map significantly either.
Hopefully if it does change the map any, my auto tune will correct it.

Thanks

I initially got the 2-1/4" baffles from Fuel Moto with my Rush mufflers. They were a little quieter than what I wanted so I called Jaime and asked the same question. He said that with the 2-1/2" I will get more sound, but the performance will be less, and I would get some decel popping. I had him send me the 2-1/2" anyway, and I really didn't notice any performance difference (A dyno test may prove otherwise). The decel popping is very minor also.

I am guessing the 2 1/2 baffle is what I ordered. When I first placed my order for the jackpot mufflers, I just asked for the dyno tuned mufflers. I guess I have the 2 1/4 baffle in now.

hullhorr, are you pleased with the new baffle? Did it make a difference in the sound?

Thanks

If you have AT you won't have any tuning issues. I was assuming a basic PCV (no AT) and that the installed map would be good with a small increase in baffle size. That's what Jamie tells me and he's the guru.

The standard Jackpots have 2" baffles installed, or at least did when I bought mine, although the left is restricted by a 3/4" reversion cone. I would guess he's sending you the 2ź" if you are going up one step. I don't even know if he has a 2˝" option for the DT Jackpots.

I'm sure that will be fine. I really like the sound of the mufflers now, but just want them a little louder. I think this will put the sound right were I want it.

Thanks
