I'm thinking about buying a 82 FLH Shovelhead Bagger and taking off all the bags and fairing. I'm new to this Harley world, Is there any good reason not to do this?
why not look for a Shovlehead Lowrider or Superglide. If you don't want a bagger, why buy one? there's lots of non-bagger shovleheads still around for sale, nice ones usually go for between 5-8K.....if this is some kind of super deal though, then it makes sense...what are you thinking of paying for it? What kind of condition is it in? I had an 84 Lowrider, and I'll tell you...I wish I didn't let that one go! it was the smoothest running shove I ever owned...even had belt drive stock!..

Not really, but it would be a shame to strip an elderly 27 years old bike of its identity. If you like the bike, ride it like it is. If you would like a shovel without those parts on it, look out for one!
A complete shovel bagger is neat. Rare to see, most guys strip em down, and to see one still tuor ready is rare. You'll get more attention if you leave it alone. Plus, who doesn't want bags at least?

When I added a batwing and tourpak to my FLHS I deliberately painted the gf parts in birch white, like those earlier baggers!
They are asking $4500 OBO but I've haven't seen it in person yet. Add says rebuilt motor and S&S carbs etc.
Pictures look good. He said it starts, runs, and drives good. But I don't really like bags and fairings. I would just be riding around town. 1 hour trips so I don't need to bring alot of stuff.
Put a kick *** Radio in there use one bag for beer and ice and you'll soon see why Baggers are the ****!!!! Oh and you'll get tired real quick of your friends wanting to put their **** in your bags whenever yall go some where LOL!!! Shovelhead is hands down the best sounding Harley EVER built! I still have my 83 Super Glide Shovel I bought new Remember the ole saying....When the last Evo Dies there still be a Shovel around to Bury it.....
