what happens if the cat is removed or the head pipes are replaced?
where / what happens to the 02 sensors?
i know on cars there are cat simulators, but if there is no cat and the 02's are plugged in will the engine light come on?
I have a 2010 Ultra and tried exactly what you want to do, right down to the V&H Ovals. I rode forty miles and took them off, my headpipes turned blue at the collector almost immediately and you could tell it was running hotter than it did before the change, no oil temp gauge just felt hotter.
I've heard from reliable people (Fuel-Moto) that the 2010's run 100 degrees hotter at the head pipe than the 2009's.
I'm thinking I'm going to have to either get different headpipes or go true dual. We are going to have to wait until the aftermarket catches up. I'm not sure what kind of impact the Mini O2's will have in the decision making process but it's something to consider if you want to do anything to the exhaust, especially if you plan on changing the physical configuration.
If you do decide to go ahead and do it anyway, let me know how it turns out, I really want to just change the mufflers and ride it but I got a little concerned when I looked at the collector.
I read Jamies post, that's why I got the last 09 Ultra the dealer had.
I would like to point out that my 2010 seems to run MUCH cooler than my 07 ever did, I do have the heat shields on there but I really don't think that's it, even when I put my hand down there to see if I'm imagining things it seems much cooler, I don't get it but I like it
Where is this Jamie post you speak of dontdropit, I'll see if I can find it but for convenience, posting a link in this thread seems appropriate.

On the '10's the o2 sensors are down by the cat so removing it is rumoured to cause cross talk between them. I have removed the cat on 2 '09 SERG's and replaced mufflers. Tuned with TTS and both guys said bike ran better.

If you are gutting the stock headpipe there could be some reversion between the headpipes, but we have not seen it. With our Jackpot headpipe we are not simply removing the cat, our pipe is very different including a completely different collector which in this case there are no issues with reversion affecting the O2 sensors on the 2010 bike which are in the stock location. For tuning purposes our headpipes also have 18MM bungs located near the exhaust ports which which accept wideband O2 sensors.

Sorry, I don't know how to post a link. I can tell you that if you click on Fuelmoto and click on find all post it's about 13th down the list. Maybe someone can tell me how to post a link?
I have a 2010 UC Limited - Put on the Monster Ovals, Supertuner, heavy breather and then Dyno Tune. The tech stopped when he could not get a decent baseline and after a couple conversations with HD came to the conclusion that it's the cat screwing things up...
After all that work 9and money) I ended up with max HP 70.9 and 81.4 max torque. V&H have come out with a new true dual head pipe for the 2010 - think I'll get it and maybe toss in some cams then back to the Dyno.. I sure hope it does better then.
