Default Must have performance upgrade suggestions.

I recently added a 2006 FLHTC to my stable and am interested on hearing any suggestions for must have performance upgrades or other other upgrades suggestions you may have. This bike is bone stock.

I'd do a stage 1 with new A/C and pipes and then upgrade your cam tensioner shoes to the new hydro version and put in better cams while you're there.

Not must haves but the most popular upgrades seem to be:
air cleaner
pipes (IMO 2 into 1, but true duals are more popular).
95"
cam.
Think about what type of performance you want, more pull from low RPM or plain old max power WFO and big HP numbers.

For the money, Slipon mufflers, air cleaner up grade, some type of tuner, and get the bike dyno tuned. Ride it for a while, but if that is not enough.then go with a bib bore kit along with cams. Don't get to wild or rideability is out the window. JMO

I'm not looking for wide open throttle performance more in the low and mid rpm ranges. I also heard of issues with the factory ECM, can anyone elaborate on this.

The stage 1 air filter and mufflers that have been mentioned are the best bang for the buck. The stock ECM itself is fine, it's the EPA compliant map that is loaded into it that causes heat due to a lean air/fuel mixture. If you do a search you will find thousands of posts on how to cure it.

Chrome. Lots and lots of chrome. It's a scientific fact that chrome has a positive drag coefficient so it actually pushes you through the air instead of slowing you down. Like they say...chrome gets you home.

Not steal the thread but my situation is the same, bone stock 04 FLHTCI. What you mentioned is what I'm thinking of doing. What can I expect as far as a cost of all that above?

We call this "safety chrome." People are more likely to see you with all that chrome on your bike. Other mods to consider are a more comfortable seat or a seat mod, different bars, different windshield depending on how the stocker is working for you, and the list goes on. This list is pretty close to endless. It seems most people do a stage 1 and then get into comfort mods such as the seat, floorbaord extensions, etc.

For the money, check out a Fuel Moto Power Package. I have the PCIII, K&N AC and custom tuned Rush slipons on mine and it was the best 7 bills shipped I've spent. That said, I am jonesing for more cubes, but that can't be helped.
