There was a thread on here not long ago from a guy with a Electra Glide (I think) that complained when he turned on the ignition and the on switch, then waited for the Injector light to go out (like the manual says) that it cranked over excessivly-8-9 engine revolutions- before it starts. BUT if he turns on switches and hits "start" immediatly, it will fire on first revolution.
I now know what he was talking about-mine is doing the EXACT same thing. Also starts and usually dies first time when cold. 2008 Ultra, fuel injected.
Just wondered what he found wrong with his bike. Mine is going in next week for warranty work on this problem, just curious what he found out.
I've done a search but can't find the thread--any help???
Mine is bone stock except for slip-ons so thats not the issue here. Seems like one injector may not be spraying right. Also has a surge/almost like a spit back through the carb (if it was carburated), much worse when not up to temp. Doesn't do the spit back/surge thing all the time. Seems like it goes through fits.
Always run good Shell gas.
UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE --- Problem resolved!
Warranty took care of it. Apparently this is the same problem that inspired the recall for cracking fuel filter housing in the tank.
My bike was NOT, according to the build date, involved in the recall. BUT it did have the exact same problem (cracked fuel filter housing inside the tank) that the recall was for.
Dealer found it immiediatly, replaced it, and problem went away.
If you experience the symptoms i previously described you might wanna check this out.
just a little info for ya'll.
By the way, I have nothing but positive praise for my selling dealer-Legacy Harley Davidson in Effingham, IL. They have treated me like gold and taken care of every problem (although there have been few) without balking or giving me any static.
I'm quick to tell when I'm treated badly so I try to be fair and tell when I'm treated good also. I can highly recomend them.
